Wudarczyk Defends Title in Thrilling Division 5 Super Stock Championship Fight

The Super Stock category in the NHRA West Central Division 5 delivered one of the most thrilling points battles of the 2025 season, making it one of the most exciting classes to watch from start to finish. With tight margins and constant pressure among the top contenders, every round carried championship implications, and the title fight remained undecided until the final events of the year. When the dust settled, just 23 points separated the top three finishers, highlighting the depth of talent and intensity within the class.

At the center of the championship chase were Tyler Wudarczyk of Wakarusa, Kansas, Jason DeForrest of Oak Grove, Minnesota, and Brett Speer of Fort Ripley, Minnesota. In the end, Wudarczyk was able to pull ahead late in the season to defend his title and earn his second consecutive West Central Division 5 Super Stock Championship. He secured the championship by edging out DeForrest by 11 points, sealing the title with a strong performance at Tri-State Raceway during the closing stretch of the season.

The battle between Wudarczyk and DeForrest began early and never let up. As the defending 2024 Super Stock Champion, Wudarczyk entered the season with a target on his back, while DeForrest quickly established himself as a serious contender. Both drivers captured Super Stock victories during the Division 5 Double Header at St. Louis, setting the tone for a season-long duel.

Heading into the Brainerd doubleheader, Wudarczyk sat just 21 points behind points leader Jason DeForrest, setting the stage for a dramatic late-season charge and further solidifying Super Stock as one of the most competitive and entertaining classes of the year. Rounding out the top three was Brett Speer, who delivered an equally impressive campaign, highlighted by a Super Stock victory at Brainerd International Raceway during the August double divisional event, keeping him firmly in the championship hunt.

In Super Stock, championship pressure surrounded nearly every round, as the 2025 season showcased the very best of NHRA Sportsman drag racing. The relentless competition exemplified the spirit of the High & Mighty, where consistency and execution ultimately determined the champion.

The West Central Division congratulates Tyler Wudarczyk, Jason DeForrest, and Brett Speer on an outstanding season and looks forward to celebrating their accomplishments at the West Central Division 5 Champions Banquet.

The NHRA West Central Division is also proud to announce two new additions to the High & Mighty Hall of Fame, who will be inducted during the 2025 Champions’ Banquet. This year’s inductees include multi-time World Champion and Minnesota-born Pro Stock legend Warren Johnson, along with the Sunflower Rod and Custom Association (SRCA Dragstrip) — the organization that played a pivotal role in hosting the first NHRA National Event in 1955. Both will take their place among the pillars of drag racing history in Division 5.
