August 6–10, 2025 | Brainerd International Raceway
As the NHRA Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series heads to Brainerd International Raceway for the August 6–10 doubleheader, Top Dragster contender Trevor Larson is gearing up to make a move. Just 8 points behind Les Feist, Larson has his eyes set on taking over the lead in front of friends, family, and his hometown crowd.
We caught up with Trevor ahead of the Brainerd Double to talk points, family, momentum—and what it’s going to take to be the last man standing.
Q: What does winning The Wally mean to you?
A: I wouldn’t say what a Wally means to me, it’s more what it means to my entire family. As a family we put so much into racing: our cars, travel time, and time spent in the shop. Holding the Wally at the end of an event proves to our family a sense of accomplishment and all the time and effort was worth it.
Q: How many Wallys do you currently have in your trophy case?
A: In my trophy case there are 44 Wallys. Personally, I have 18 divisional Wallys, 9 National, 8 Div. Championship Wally, and 1 National Championship.
My wife has 3 Div. and 2 Nat., and my Dad has 3 divisional Wallys.
Q: Who has been the biggest influence in your racing career?
A: My dad is easily my biggest influence. He is so innovated when it comes to performance. His motto that I now live by is “If you’re aren’t going forward, you’re going backwards!"
Q: What does racing mean to you and your family?
A: My family was practically built on racing. Without racing, I wouldn’t have met my wife or had my boys. Racing is a lifestyle for us. It keeps us close, creating new memories together, celebrate together, and endure the hardships together. Racing has brought us friends that turned into family!
Q: You won Top Dragster at Tri-State in May—how did that win shape your momentum for the rest of the 2025 season?
A: I never know what class I am going to race at the beginning of the season when it comes to my dragster. I was debating about getting back into Super Comp since I had a couple year hiatus. My Top Dragster win at Tri-Stare pretty much made my mind up to go for it again. The only problem with running Top Dragster is qualifying. I have to be a little strategic at what races we go to being a 7 second car.
Q: What are you most looking forward to at the Brainerd Double or your next LODRS event?
A: Brainerd is a home race for us. We usually have a lot of friends and family that come to watch and hang out. It’s always fun to show those who aren’t into racing, what we do and why we love it.
Q: What’s your favorite part of competing in the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series?
A: Points! I’m really motivated by the point chase. I really like numbers, so about this time a year I start thinking about different scenarios- if this were to happen I got go here or there. It’s really fun for me to look at the greater picture.
Q: You’re currently just 8 points behind Les Feist. How are you preparing for the Brainerd Double or your next LODRS race?
A: This might sound cliché, but my point position doesn’t affect how I prepare for a race. I go into each race with the same mindset of planning to be the last man standing.
Q: Who would you like to thank for their support throughout the race season?
A: First and foremost, I got to thank my wife, my two boys and my parents. I also need to thank Chris Hess and Dan Smith for all the help they do on and off track.

With the BIR Doubleheader just days away, Trevor Larson is heading into his home track with momentum, experience, and the unwavering support of his family—including racing alongside his wife, Kendra Larson. Just 8 points out of the Top Dragster lead, Larson isn’t letting the pressure shake his focus—he’s sticking to the same mindset that’s carried him through many Wally wins: show up, stay sharp, and race to be the last man standing. Whether it’s the long hours in the shop or the quiet moments in the pits with his family, every bit of it fuels his drive. As the championship battle tightens, there’s no better place for Larson to make his move than Brainerd International Raceway.
