KRP National Open Cancelled Due to Repaving Project
Kearney Raceway Park has officially announced that September 13th will mark the end of their 2026 season, as a new racing surface installation is planned to begin later this month. The National Open, originally scheduled for October 24th, has been cancelled due to the construction.
While missing out on an opportunity to return to KRP is disappointing, the West Central is excited for the facility and the team that has helped bring this to a reality. "Our D5 tracks continue to show their committment to the racers and the sport of drag racing", said Nick Duty, Division Director. "Over the past several years we have seen major improvements at numerous facilities across the West Central. Our owners and track operators are building for the future and we are so grateful for their investment."
The NHRA West Central is looking forward to working with KRP throughout the project and excited to return in 2027 with the National Open.
