Kris Whitfield Delivers Championship Season with Division 5 Title and National Runner-Up Finish

During the 2025 NHRA season, the West Central Division 5 once again lived up to its High & Mighty reputation, producing champions who consistently performed at the highest level of competition. Among those standouts was Kris Whitfield of Littleton, Colorado, whose season was defined by consistency, determination, and elite performance in NHRA’s Super Comp category.

Whitfield put together an outstanding Super Comp campaign, capturing the 2025 NHRA West Central Division 5 Super Comp Championship through a season marked by a lot of miles, strong finishes, and unwavering focus. His ability to perform under pressure and deliver when it mattered most set him apart in one of the most competitive Super Comp fields in the division.

Throughout the season, Whitfield showcased his talent with several standout performances, including a win and a runner-up finish in Las Vegas early in the year, followed by another runner-up result at St. Louis during the Division 5 Double Header. Consistently strong and highly competitive from start to finish, Whitfield recorded three wins along with numerous deep runs, ultimately capturing the West Central Division 5 Super Comp Championship.

Whitfield also represented the West Central Division with distinction on the national stage, finishing second in the NHRA Super Comp national standings—a testament to his preparation, consistency, and elite-level performance throughout the 2025 season.

Whitfield captured the Division 5 Super Comp Championship with 405 points, finishing ahead of Jeff Cheney in second with 384 points, and Jon Medlin, who rounded out the top three with 340 points.

Kris Whitfield’s 2025 season will be remembered as one of excellence—an NHRA Division Champion who proudly represented the High & Mighty and delivered a championship-caliber performance throughout the year. The West Central Division congratulates Whitfield on his outstanding season and looks forward to celebrating his accomplishments, along with the top three finishers, at the West Central Division 5 Champions Banquet on Saturday, January 24, at the Kansas City Marriott – Overland Park.

The NHRA West Central Division is also proud to announce two new additions to the High & Mighty Hall of Fame, who will be inducted during the 2025 Champions’ Banquet. This year’s inductees include multi-time World Champion and Minnesota-born Pro Stock legend Warren Johnson, along with the Sunflower Rod and Custom Association (SRCA Dragstrip) — the organization that played a pivotal role in hosting the first NHRA National Event in 1955. Both will take their place among the pillars of drag racing history in Division 5.
