August 6–10, 2025 | Brainerd International Raceway

As the Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series Doubleheader at Brainerd International Raceway draws near, all attention is on Jason DeForrest, the current Division 5 Super Stock points leader. With just a 21-point edge over 2024 champion Tyler Wudarczyk, DeForrest’s focus is razor sharp heading into one of the most pivotal weekends of the season.

We caught up with the multi-time Wally winner to get his thoughts on the 2025 season, the upcoming Brainerd doubleheader, and what it takes to maintain a championship lead under pressure.

Q: What does winning The Wally mean to you?

A: Hard to answer, competing on a national level is a big part of it.

Q: How many Wallys do you currently have in your trophy case?

A: Over 30, 5 National, 5 Divisional, many Class wins and a couple National Dragster Challenge races.

Q: You won one of the first Division 5 events of the season — how has that win shaped your momentum heading into the rest of the 2025 season?

A: Season started out great with that win, then I bent a valve at the national in Joliet and could not make 1st round. Then I broke the transmission at the Earlville divisional in the Semi’s. Hoping that is all behind me now.

Q: What are you most looking forward to about racing the Double at Brainerd or your next LODRS race?

A: Most of my family will be there, we also have a great group of racing family/friends that will be there.

Q: What’s your favorite part of competing in a Lucas Oil Drag Racing Series event?

A: The people, and the competition.

Q: You’re currently leading Super Stock in the points. How do you prepare for the Double at BIR or your next LODRS race?

A: I’m generally good with maintenance, but I will be double/triple checking things for these races. I tend to run through the event in my mind before a race and think about what I might need to prepare for.

Q: As the current points leader, do you feel added pressure heading into the next event with competitors close behind?

A: There will be some great drivers out there. I just need to take it one round at a time.

Q: Is there anyone you’d like to thank who has supported you throughout the race season?

A: My Fiancée Tyra, my parents, my brother Jonas, the Crew and Customers of Arrow that make it possible.

With a strong resume, steady mindset, and support system behind him, DeForrest is set to take on the Brainerd doubleheader with one goal in mind: hold the lead and drive toward a Division 5 championship.
