About Julesburg Drag Strip

Julesburg Dragstrip is the oldest drag racing track in the country. The track originally began as the Platte Valley Customs.  It celebrated 60 years of racing at the same location in 2018 and remains sanctioned by the NHRA.

The Platte Valley Custom Club conducted drag races on the runway of the Julesburg Municipal Airport in 1959 on April 12, May 24, July 4-5 and August 22-23. In 1961, NHRA-sanctioned drag races were held on May 28 and June 25, the latter being an NHRA regional race (see Hot Rod Magazine, Jan. 1962, p. 87).  In 1963-77, it was being called Platte Valley Dragways.

We have a full restaurant, with lots of fantastic food, including burgers and fries and Frito Pie!
